Main Functional Description
Docking Master is a wireless system that allows precise and direct control over all principal motors and propulsion systems in the vessel. Electronically it works sending a unique coding signal, manually generated in the wireless hand transmitter (Industrial, Scientific and Medical band, ISM Band). This radio frequency (RF) burst is then sent in a basic Frequency Shift Keying (FSK). Our handheld transmitter (which is smaller than a TV remote) gives you direct control over:
- Port main engine shifter
- Starboard main engine shifter
- Bow thruster
- Stern thruster
- Anchor winch
Docking Master is a very powerful tool designed to bring the dockside operation of a vessel safely and dependably into the 21st Century. From anywhere aboard, the Captain is able to maneuver his vessel with total control and flexibility. The remote control is a waterproof and ergonomically designed transmitter that provides secure wireless operation of engine gears and thrusters. It was designed by a highly experienced team of engineers who put this product under rigorous testing to ensure top performance and dependability in any conditions.
Docking Master is by far the most advanced and dependable dockside control device in the marketplace. Stating the obvious, with a remote control the captain can be down on the deck while approaching and leaving the dock, expanding his vision, awareness, and control of the docking procedure, even helping out. It eliminates confusion, missed communication, raised voices and even walkie-talkies. Docking Master is the next generation advancement from the hard-wired remote controls. It avoids wire tangles, tripping, limitation in range of movement and having to move the wire plug to another receptacle.
How Does The Docking Master System Work?
The system has one transmitter and two receivers. The transmitter sends a proprietary highly encrypted digital signal (CODEC) to the engine and thruster receivers. This signal cannot be interfered with by any other device or source. The handheld remote has no levers, just water proof push button micro switches which are far more reliable than the sub standard membrane switches for marine environments. The operation function is engaged as long as you hold the button down; when you release the button, the gear goes back to neutral immediately. Both receivers have a non-invasive connection, using a T-adapter on the cable that plugs into the shift solenoid. Any electrical driven transmission control can be incorporated onto the remote, including thrusters and anchor windlass. Steering and Tiller systems are also included on some units. You are in complete control of the rudders to enhance close quarter maneuvering.
Reliability depends mostly on the receiver sensitivity and modulation scheme. With an operating range of over 300 feet, this device was designed by a team of expert engineers working hard to achieve their own state of the art high gain FM receiver. You can have the peace of mind knowing that this system was completely created and designed by us. Our technology achieves much better performance and control than any other commercial unit. Every circuit board inside the controllers is fully protected for spikes in voltage, current and the loss of power. Our controllers are extremely durable and made to last but if anything were to happen to the transmitter during docking, the entire system goes to shuts down in less than a second. Not every wireless device performs the same… now they can be compared to superior technology, now they can be compared to the Docking Master.
OEM - Original Equipment of Manufacturers
The Truth about OEM
Docking Master engineers know it is extremely important not to tamper or bypass the original equipment of Manufacturers (OEM). Therefore our engineers have devised an exclusive method to bridge the OEM system. The Docking Master wireless remote controller is programmed to immediately respond to the signals and commands of your vessel. Our docking system never compromises your yacht’s safety system; on the contrary, it works in partnership with the yacht’s computer by constantly monitoring for any and all commands from your yacht’s system. The wireless docking system responds by instantly allowing the yacht’s system to take over the controls.
The Docking Master has a sophisticated protocol that remains transparent to the systems of your boat and only becomes available when you activate the Docking Master remote control switch. Once activated our Docking Master will allow you to control the forward and reverse motions as well as the thrusters from anywhere on your vessel during the docking process. The Docking Master will constantly monitor the yachts computer. If a signal or command is received from the yacht’s main system the Docking Master immediately responds by shutting down and allowing the yacht’s computer to take over. Our team of expert engineers designed these important safety features to ensure the seamless and secure operation of your vessel during docking. It goes above and beyond by having the only system to have floating ground optical communication with the boating control signal.
